SILENT WALL POSTER ZINE

is a comics magazine in form of a street poster. We usually print only comics without words, in order to make our zine readable to the most wide group of audience. Universal language of images and comics is easily approachable to all humans on the planet, and we use it usually to deal adress some of the most common problems of our societies – having this on mind, each issue of Silent Wall poster has a certain topic. First issue was released in august 2005, under the subtitle “Polluters from the neighbourhood” -  we printed 1000 copies of black and white 50 x 70 cm poster, introducing comics strips that are dealing with ecology topics. Since we come from Pancevo, Serbia, which is considered as the most polluted town in the region, we found this topic quite alive both on local and global level. In first two issues, we introduced works of following authors:

  • Alberto Corradi /Italy/
  • Rocco Lombardi /Italy/
  • Jakob Klemencic /Slovenia/
  • Vuk Palibrk /Serbia/
  • Vladan Nikolic /Serbia/
  • Daniel Mrgan /Croatia/USA/
  • Fabian Stoltz /Germany/
  • Maja Veselinovic /Serbia/

Third issue of Silent Wall poster was dedicated to female authors, and the guest-editor was Aleksandar Zograf. After his reccomendation, we introduced works of Nina Bunjevac /Canada/Serbia/, Lee Kennedy /United Kingdom/, and Larisa Ackov /Serbia/. Graphic support for this issue was made by TKV, legendary street artist from Belgrade.

Fourth issue of Silent Wall poster is dealing more with the poetics of the city and urban surroundings, so it was released under the common topic “CITY/LABYRINTH”, this time introducing three young and emerging artists -  Boris Stanic /Serbia/, Aneta Bendakova /Czech Republic/ and Vuk Palibrk /Serbia/. This issue was promoted in comics festivals in Italy, Algeria, Serbia and Austria so far. Check our photos here:

By choosing the city walls as a distribution place for comics, we want to make our target group as wide as possible, infecting with comics images humans from 7 to 107 years of age...who knows, maybe next week we appear in your town!
